high tide + streets littered with garbage + typhoon or a torrential rain = flood in the Philippines. those who resides in low lying areas have become so use to flooding that they already have their home made floating device, a necessity until the water subsides. it's a common event present in every year, but still drawing a significant increase of grimace especially from the workers who just want to get through from point a to point b. grimace to those who own cars, jeepneys and pick-ups who are suddenly compelled to have their bearings re-grease/re-pack,have their engines check and interiors clean which is a burden to their pockets. but let's flip through the other side, the other spectrum, those who are current unemployed (estambays as called here in the philippines) well, a proper smile, an instant employment without the interview, the waiting, the taxes, the whole nine yards. 250 pesos or less per push of a dead vehicle; schools out and kids have their street wide pool; and lots of smiles, so when it rains, i believe that some are praying that it will really pour, hard;
